Trends in Commercial and Industrial Roofing in 2018

The year of 2018 could not come soon enough. 2017 was pretty crazy! We’ve got to say, we’re excited for a whole year ahead with so much promise, so much potential, so much to be had with just a little bit of hard work, a good plan and some good people supporting you!

If you’re like us, you can’t wait to get to work, can’t wait to get out there and keep making a name for yourself.

Here are all the trends we expect to affect our jobs as a commercial roofing company in Springfield, MA this year. The list is by no means comprehensive, but is mostly focused on what we’re excited about this year.

Growth in single-ply roofing-systems will continue

2017 was a banner year for growth in the commercial and industrial roofing industry. The greatest growth seemed to be in single-ply roofing systems, and most industry experts expect for this trend to continue. Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) is the most common single-ply roofing system, followed by EPDM and PVC, and we expect to see swift growth in all three roofing systems this year.

Energy efficiency will continue to be more important year by year

Single-ply systems are efficient, especially when supported by the latest in ventilation and water drainage systems. Together these roofing systems can help protect your property and save energy over the long haul. We’ll continue to see growth in energy-efficient roofing, including in steel and aluminum, which are totally recyclable—though they do, of course, require a lot of energy to make on the front end. In the energy-efficiency vein, we expect that weatherizing systems (such as fluid roof sealant) will continue to see advances in their formulation, effectiveness and environmental friendliness. We expect they’ll continue to be important in helping older roofing systems age gracefully, and achieve higher levels of efficiency for longer.

More growth!

Our main prediction this year is continued growth in all roofing systems—single-ply TPO, PVC and EPDM, as well as steel, aluminum, tar and gravel and more. Consumer confidence hasn’t been this high in a decade. As commercial roofing companies tend to grow alongside the industries they serve, 2018 is an extremely exciting time to be in our business.
